Fiji Water and its Health
Benefits
Fiji Water is one of today's leading bottled water brands,
proud of its source-the islands of Fiji, of course-and of its
soft, pure taste and health benefits.
Fiji water is presented as 'artesian' water, which is
defined as water that comes from a deep source within the
earth, covered by layers of rock. The water source is composed
of rainfall filtered through layers of volcanic rock, gathered
over hundreds of years. Unlike a spring, there is no opening to
this source, or even a porthole to the surface, so the water
does not come into contact with the air, therefore preventing
any environmental pollutants from contaminating the water.
An aquifer is used to tap into the source, and the water is
drawn into a production plant using a sealed delivery system.
The aquifer is located at the edge of a secluded rain forest in
the islands of Fiji, and the brand prides itself for having a
source miles away from any industrial pollutants.
Currently, the bottle sizes available are: 300 ml, 500 ml, 1
liter, and 1.5 liter. The Fiji water bottle features a
photograph of a single large fuchsia hibiscus. Its back panel
is titled "What ecosystem is your water from?", and displays
information about Fiji Water's origins, its bottling process,
and its benefits.
Since Fiji Water is filtered and goes through layers of
volcanic rock, it gathers silica, which is a mineral that helps
improve teeth, nails, skin, and hair, as well as strengthen
bones and connective tissue. Another one of silica's benefits
is that it is also believed to lessen the chance of elderly
women developing Alzheimer's Disease.
Aside from silica, minerals such as calcium and magnesium
are also gathered in the filtration process, which gives Fiji
Water a smooth, soft taste.
Fiji Water is unique in the sense that it is artesian, and
not purified or spring water, which is what is primarily being
sold in the market nowadays, and offers such health benefits.
Many fine hotels and restaurants prefer Fiji for their still
water, and Fiji Water apparently sold 15 million bottles last
year.
Fiji Water was introduced in 1996, and was the water of
choice for renowned chefs such as Nobu Matsuhisa, and
currently, can be found for sale in local supermarkets. The
bottle is shrink-wrapped and is available in packs of 6. Fiji
Water also offers home delivery. More information such as
prices and packages, and also store locators, can be found at
their website, www.fijiwater.com.
